Personal Development/Health and Physical Education

The PDHPE unit provides support for syllabus implementation in PDHPE. It is responsible for managing statewide curriculum initiatives, providing policy advice on curriculum matters and liaising with the Board of Studies, other government agencies and other external organisations, including business, industry and community groups.

The PDHPE unit produces materials for schools to support the implementation of syllabuses and strategically plans statewide professional development for teachers in PDHPE. The Road Safety Education Program within the Department of Education and Training (DET) provides a statewide road safety education consultancy service to NSW government schools.

Sport

Roselea Public School teachers actively promote an increase in students' physical fitness, improvements in fine motor skills and the importance of a healthy life style. Students participate in fitness sessions and sport programs both within the school and through the Public Schools' Sporting Association (PSSA) inter-school sport activities.

The Learn to Swim program is conducted in Term 4 and students from Year 2 to Year 6 are invited to participate. This greatly increases the water confidence and swimming competence of students involved.

This year our school was also involved in the Q4 - Live outside the Box healthy lifestyle program. Students were encouraged to keep journals detailing their dietary intake and physical activity levels for a month to help and increase their awareness of the actual amounts of food and exercise they receive.
